NAID Holds Assistive Technologies Workshops

The National Academy of Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities (NAID) is holding three workshops on assistive technologies applications, on February 12-19.

The workshops are organized online and at NAID premises in Smart Village, targeting engineering and computer science students and fresh graduates.

The first workshop is titled “Introduction to Internet of Things (IoT).” The trainees will learn the fundamentals of IoT and practice the essentials protocols required to develop an IoT application. The workshop will address several topics related to IoT and its application in assistive technology.

The second is the “Digital Fabrication Workshop.” It will introduce the principles of digital fabrication and include hands-on training on different techniques for developing products. The workshop will focus on the different types of additive manufacturing (3D printing) and 2D digital fabrication (CNC Laser).

The third workshop is titled “Machine Learning Workshop.” It will introduce the trainees to different concepts, techniques, and algorithms in ML and how they can be applied in areas related to assistive technology to help Persons with Disabilities (PwDs).

NAID is an affiliate of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT). The Academy's mission is to support PwDs inclusion in society, develop their skills, and utilize their exceptional abilities in achieving social and economic development in Egypt.
