The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) are co-organizing a bootcamp to train the Egyptian team members—the top performers at the Egyptian Olympiad in Informatics (EOI) 2021—to participate in the 34th International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI 2022), hosted by Indonesia, on August 7-14.
The bootcamp is organized at AASTMT premises in Port Said City, on February 11-19. The training is delivered by specialists in informatics as well as a Chinese expert to upskill and train students in problem- and algorithm-solving strategies.
IOI is the flagship programming and algorithm event targeting school students. Every year, MCIT works to prepares the members of the Egyptian team to participate in the international competition.
The team bagged many medals in the previous editions of IOI, taking Egypt’s tally to 25 medals: 19 bronze and six silver. Egypt is scheduled to host IOI, for the second time, in 2024; the first was in 2008.
