MCIT Organizes Training Courses in E-Learning, IT Essentials

The E-Learning Competence Center (ELCC), affiliated with the Central Department for Digital Community Development at the Ministry of Communications and Information (MCIT), has organized several courses and training programs in e-learning and IT essentials, within the framework of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by supporting education and promoting e-learning.

The Center is organizing an IT Essentials training course for 35 trainers at youth centers in different governorates. The course is held on January 10- February 15, through the Cisco Networking Academy platform.

Moreover, the Central Department has started a series of training programs to qualify trainers in e-learning. This comes as part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) concluded between MCIT and Assiut Governorate for technologically empowering citizens in the governorate and building their digital capacities. The programs aims to train faculty members to design e-content, use electronic content management (ECM) tools, and create digital lessons, in an effort to facilitate education for both learners and instructors.

The Department, in addition, is qualifying instructors for the IT Essentials program. Twenty instructors from training centers at Assiut’s general bureau, Assiut University and civil institutions, are receiving training for one month, starting from February 13.

In January, ELCC organized an online training program on “graphic design standards for e-learning.” The program was attended by 41 trainees, including fresh graduates of the Faculty of Education (Education Technology Department), the Faculty of Engineering (Computer Department), and the Faculty of Computers and Information, as well as specialists in e-content production.

ELCC was founded in 2004, in collaboration between MCIT and Cisco Systems. The Center aims to support Egypt’s overall education reform and entrepreneurship development through promoting the effective use of ICT, with a special focus on harnessing e-learning technologies and maximizing the potential for collaborative public-private partnerships (PPP).
