MCIT Holds First Meeting of ‘Jobs, Skills for PwDs’

The National Network for Persons with Disabilities (PWD) Services is holding the first meeting of the “Jobs and Skills for PwDs” project, on March 14, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) in the Smart Village.

The project is implemented in collaboration between MCIT, the International Labour Organization (ILO), the United Nations Partnership on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNPRPD), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). It is part of the efforts made to empower PwDs using ICT, as part of the national human development plan.

The meeting will shed light on the role and importance of the National Network for PWD Services in enhancing qualification and employment services through “Taheel” platform. In addition, the meeting will enable business owners and concerned institutions to highlight their effective role in benefiting from PwDs capabilities, facilitate the exchange of experiences and visions, and explain the needs of the local and global markets.

MCIT and the Ministry of Social Solidarity launched the National Network for PWD Services to support PwDs inclusion in society and build their digital capacities to qualify them for the labor market. Launching the Network reflects MCIT keenness to improve the quality of technology services provided to PwDs and raise awareness of the importance of technologically empowering PwDs as one of the main pillars of its strategy where technological programs and applications are adapted to empower PwDs and build their digital capabilities.
