ITIDA Launches ibTIECar Metaverse at CREATIVA



The Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC), an affiliate of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), has announced the launch of ibTIECar Metaverse hackathon at CREATIVA Innovation Hubs and Egypt Makes Electronics (EME) Labs across Egypt.
 
The Hackathon aims to inspire and encourage young Egyptians across different governorates to create innovative solutions by employing and developing Metaverse applications that address local pressing challenges while also contributing to the acceleration of digital transformation.
 
ibTIECar Metaverse features a series of hybrid and interactive market-driven competitions in 10 governorates, at CREATIVA Innovation Hubs in universities including Mansoura, Menoufia, Minya, Sohag, Qena, Aswan and Suez Canal in Ismailia, as well as at EME Labs in Cairo, Alexandria and Assiut Governorates.
 
The Hackathon is part of the efforts that ITIDA makes to promote innovation and entrepreneurship, encouraging future generations to create and develop innovative solutions. In addition, the Hackathon aims to enhance the role of national universities as a hub for creativity and innovation-based entrepreneurship in Egypt.
 
ibTIECar Metaverse focuses on the use of technologies that contribute to the development of the Metaverse, including technologies used to build applications and solutions directly (GameFi -SocialFi-NFT -DAO/DAC -GPT) or indirect contribution applications (any product or service based on emerging technologies with direct use in enhancing the Metaverse experience).
 
The Hackathon accepts innovative ideas that harness technologies including Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Mixed Reality (MR), Extended Reality (XR), 3D Modeling and Animation, Virtual Beings and Digitally-Created Humans, Computer Vision, Spatial Computing, NFTs and Blockchain, Natural Language Processing (NLP), Sensory Wearables and Immersive Devices, Human-Machine Interaction, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT).
 
The participating teams will get access to EME Labs and CREATIVA Innovation Hubs, where all the facilities are made available to accommodate their work needs.
 
The winning teams will be awarded cash prizes of a total amount of EGP 750,000. They will also have the priority to join the programs offered by TIEC and CREATIVA Innovation Hubs, including acceleration, incubation, consultation, mentorship, and networking programs.
 
The selection process and evaluation criteria are based on five factors: Idea Novelty; Market Potential (target or expected market size and potential); Impact of the idea at the local, national or global level; Team Ability (the technical and managerial ability and skills of the team); and Maturity Level of the prototype.
 
ibTIECar Metaverse is open to university students, graduates, faculty members, and researchers in ICT-related faculties, in addition to entrepreneurs specializing in the ICT field.
