Egypt Partakes in AfCFTA CTIS 7th Meeting

Egypt, represented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), is remotely participating in the Seventh Meeting of the Committee on Trade in Services (CTIS) of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), held by AfCFTA Secretariat on March 14-19, in Accra, Ghana.

CTIS is responsible for facilitating the operation of AfCFTA Protocol on Trade in Services, which seeks to create a single liberalized market for trade in services for the continent. The Protocol is the first endeavor to liberalize intra-African trade in services.

The aim of the meeting is to support the process towards the conclusion of negotiations on Trade In Services and discuss all matters related to the gradual abolishment of trade barriers in services between African countries.

AfCFTA is a flagship project of Agenda 2063 of the African Union. It is aimed at accelerating intra-African trade and boosting Africa’s trading position in the global market by strengthening Africa’s common voice and policy space in global trade negotiations.
