NTRA Releases Indicators of Web App Usage within 24 Hours in Ramadan 2022

The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has released the indicators of web application usage within 24 hours in Ramadan 2022.

Compared with the same period in Ramadan 2021, mobile Internet services were increasingly used by 68% with the rise of mobile Internet users to 11 million. Fixed Internet services recorded an increase by 39%, with the number of fixed Internet users reaching 980,000.

NTRA conducted a year-over-year (YoY) comparison covering parameters, including playing short videos, using e-mails, searching online maps, watching entertainment content, shopping online, navigating the Internet and downloading content, scrolling through social media platforms, using search engines, gaming, chatting, streaming live videos, and attending virtual meetings.

Moreover, NTRA also gauged the usage of its interactive services during Ramadan, including downloading My NTRA application; running the Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) code #155*; and shifting fixed Internet provider; switching between telecom operators: Mobile Number Portability (MNP). This in addition to monitoring the amounts refunded to users after their eligibility had been proven based on the complaints raised to NTRA.
