ITIDA Permits El Delta Electronic Systems to Practice e-Signature Services

The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) ) has issued a Digital Signature operating permit for El Delta Electronic Systems through the E-Signature Root CA Licensing Department to provide digital signature services in Egypt.

El Delta Electronic Systems, an Egyptian multiple-services provider, was granted the digital signature operating permit on April 17 for three years, after fulfilling the technical conditions and specifications stated in the terms of the awarded license No. 2 of 2021 to provide digital signature services.

The licensed company is entitled to offer a variety of services, including providing registration services, issuing digital signature certificates, digital signature tools, Online Certificate Status Protocol (OCSP) services, e-seal and time-stamp services for both individuals and businesses, through its extensive network of service outlets and its partnership with Telecom Egypt, following the regulations and standards set by ITIDA.

ITIDA granted two new licenses for providing e-signature services to expand and put the digital signature services in full practice across Egypt, with the aim to support the digital transformation efforts and accelerate the implementation of Digital Egypt strategy. This is in addition to linking government services to the private and civil sectors and keeping pace with the huge advancement seen in the local IT industry.

The e-Signature Root CA Licensing Department of ITIDA was created under E-Signature Law No. 15 of 2004, which regulates e-signature and e-transaction activities to support digital transformation and use the latest IT tools and applications in digital signature and e-transactions.

The executive regulations of the e-Signature Law were amended under the ICT Minister’s Decree No. 361 of 2020, to accelerate Egypt’s digital transformation adoption and help bring about the national strategy of transforming the Egyptian government into a tech-driven digital platform.
