Egypt, represented by the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), is participating in the World Intellectual Property (IP) Day event, co-organized by the Intellectual Property and Competitiveness Department of the League of Arab States (LAS) and Baianat Intellectual Property. The event is held on May 19 at LAS headquarters in Cairo, under the theme, “IP and Youth: Innovating for a Better Future.”
ITIDA representative is delivering a presentation on the optimal protection of computer programs, databases, and mobile applications.
The event addresses several topics, including raising awareness about IP for ensuring a better future for young Arabs, health-related innovations amid the pandemic, and the role of patents in promoting innovations of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Other topics include the importance of coordination and exchange of experiences to protect cultural industries such as music, copyright, and film industries; as well as industrial designs, models and trademarks, from hacking and infringement; and IP in the Metaverse.
World IP Day is observed annually on 26 April. The event was established by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in 2000 to raise awareness of how patents, copyright, trademarks, and designs impact daily life and to celebrate creativity and the contribution made by creators and innovators to the development of societies across the globe.
