Egypt Partakes in OECD AIGO First Session


Egypt, represented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), remotely, participated in the First Session of the Working Party on Artificial Intelligence (AI) Governance (AIGO) of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The session was co-organized by the Directorate for Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI) and the Committee on Digital Economy Policy (CDEP) on May 24-25 at OECD headquarters in Paris, France.
 
The agenda of the session featured several items one of which was “National AI policies”, where MCIT representative provided an update on the advancement of Egypt AI country review.
 
Other items on the event agenda included discussing a draft report on measuring AI compute; a draft report on measuring the environmental impacts of AI compute; measuring the trustworthiness of online environments and new technologies; the long-term implications of AI; OECD AI Policy Observatory; a report on AI accountability; AI classification, risk and incidents; and preparations for CDEP ministerial meeting.
 
During the session, the Technology Foresight Forum on Smart Energy Systems and Networks was held jointly with the Working Party on Communication Infrastructures and Services Policy (WPCISP). The forum analyzed the relationship between AI and efficient energy systems and its implications for communication infrastructure policy.
 
OECD is an international organization that works to build better policies for better lives. Together with governments, policymakers, and citizens, the organization works on establishing evidence-based international standards and finding solutions to a range of social, economic, and environmental challenges.
