Egypt Partakes in WeProtect Global Alliance Summit 2022

Egypt, represented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), is participating in “WeProtect Global Alliance Summit 2022: Turning the Tide on Child Sexual Abuse Online.” The Summit is organized by WeProtect Global Alliance and co-hosted by the European Commission and the French government, on June 1-2, in Brussels, Belgium.

MCIT participation is in line with its Digital Egypt strategy, digital transformation efforts, and the objectives of the Digital Citizenship Initiative. MCIT launched the initiative to build the digital skills of citizens and promote the safe and responsible use of IT tools and digital media, while focusing on parents and children to protect them against cyber threats and dangers of the Internet.

The summit is aimed at raising awareness of digital citizenship and child online protection. The Egyptian efforts in this field will be presented during the summit, helping exchange experiences and knowledge with different countries, enhance cooperation and networking in online safety, and keep pace with emerging online safety trends.

The global summit is a unique opportunity for Alliance members from industry, governments, civil society, and international organizations to come together to share learnings, agree on collaborative solutions, and reaffirm commitments to take action.
