ITIDA Launches ITAC's Sixth Fellowship Program


Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) launched the sixth phase of Information Technology Academia Collaboration (ITAC) fellowship program.
 
The sixth phase entails the two programs of Product Development Project (PDP), Advanced Research Projects (ARP) and ITIDA Fellowships. Deadline for signing up in these programs is June 30th, 2009.
 
Launched by ITIDA in 2006, Information Technology Academia Collaboration (ITAC) initiative primarily aims to promote cooperation in the areas of IT Industry and academia.
 
ITIDA CEO noted that the importance of this initiative is in boosting cooperation between the industry and universities via linking academic research with industry and market needs and building networks of research and R&D.
 
These collaborative research programs bring about value to IT companies, universities, researchers, and the technology community.
 
ITAC focuses on six programs, four of which are dedicated to graduates. The four programs are: PDP, ARP, ITIDA Fellowship and Patent Filing Program (PFP). The two other projects are: Students' Graduation Projects and Students' Summer Training.
 
ITIDA Executive Vice President Dr. Sherif Hashim said that 16 PDP, five ARP and three ITIDA fellowships are currently being funded.
 
Projects selected through ITAC are those that can maximize the cooperation between the IT industry and research through 11 research fields chosen by the supervising committee. Among the fields are: information security, economies of information security and IT services, especially business process outsourcing (BPO).
 
Microsoft, Fujitsu, IBM, MobiNil, LinkdotNet, Microtech, DMS are among the companies offering summer training to students. A total of 1000 students received training in the previous stage.
