Egypt has participated in Huawei ICT Competition 2021-2022 Global Final. The Egyptian team that competed in the competition has won the grand prize in the Network track of the Practice Competition, which examines students’ theoretical knowledge and hands-on ICT skills as well as their teamwork skills. Another Egyptian team has won the third prize in the Cloud track of the same competition, beating out 130 teams from 43 countries.
The two teams’ winning culminates the nine-month in-depth training they received at the National Telecommunication Institute (NTI). Each team consists of three college students from different Egyptian universities. The two teams made it to the finals after finishing first in all stages of the competition, beating out 1,500 Egyptian students who participated in the national contests.
Through its ICT Competition, Huawei aims to provide students with a platform to compete healthily and exchange ideas, thus enhancing their ICT knowledge and practical skills as well as increasing their ability to innovate by using new technologies and platforms.
The 6th Huawei ICT Competition attracted 150,000 students from over 2,000 universities and colleges across 85 countries and regions.
For the first time, this year’s competition featured the Women in Tech Award. It has been set to recognize and encourage outstanding women participating in the competition and inspire more women to join technology innovation, drive the growth of the ICT industry, promote social integration, contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and build a more inclusive and diverse society.
In addition, the TECH4ALL Digital Inclusion Award was presented during the ceremony. The Award is within the framework of Huawei’s TECH4ALL, a long-term digital inclusion initiative for using technology, applications and skills to empower people and organizations in education, environment, health, and development.
