The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Regulatory Authority for Communications and Information Technology of Romania (ANCOM) on cooperation in regulatory development and capacity building in digital transformation.
The signing ceremony has been held on the sidelines of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Plenipotentiary Conference 2022 (PP-22), held on September 26- October 14, in Bucharest, Romania, with participants from 182 countries.
The MoU is within the framework of enhancing cooperation between Egypt and Romania in different areas, especially telecommunications regulation. It is also in line with the national efforts to support the digital transformation, improve the quality of telecommunications services, and maintain a competitive environment to attract investors to the Egyptian market.
The MoU covered technical aspects in telecommunications regulation, the exchange of expertise in developing regulations and policies, and the best practices in facing regulation-related challenges in both countries.
Pursuant to the MoU, the two sides will collaborate in several areas, including fostering innovation, attaining sustainable development, and optimizing the regulatory environment to meet the growing challenges in the telecommunications sector.
The two sides set out the MoU implementation mechanisms, including performing consultation services in human resources development (HRD) and management (HRM), rendering strategic planning services, organizing joint events such as meetings and conferences, and designing training programs and workshops for the two countries.
