The Digital Transformation Academy of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has organized a virtual workshop on “Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies and applications for addressing national challenges.” It has been attended by 43 heads of information systems and digital transformation units in different ministries, public entities, and governorates, and delivered by the head of the Applied Innovation Center (AIC) of MCIT.
The workshop is part of the activities carried out by the Academy, which was launched by the ICT Minister on 27 May 2021. The activities are aimed at developing and building the general and specialized digital capabilities of heads and employees of information systems and digital transformation units in ministries, public entities, and governorates through interactive meetings with officials, experts, and national and international institutions in the ICT sector.
The workshop introduced the significance of using AI technologies and applications in developing innovative solutions to national issues and challenges. It also reviewed AIC role in developing innovative solutions and building national experiences in modern technologies, such as AI, big data analysis, cloud computing, automation, robotics, and the Internet of Things (IoT) in several areas, including agriculture, health, education, urban planning, and others.
It is worth noting that MCIT is adopting a comprehensive plan to provide technical support to employees and heads of the information systems and digital transformation units in ministries, public entities, and governorates. The plan includes building an operational structure for the units and carrying out programs, workshops, and sessions to train heads and employees. This is in addition to organizing activities as part of the Digital Transformation Academy and issuing a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) manual for the units.
Furthermore, specialized capacity-building programs were organized for heads and employees at the units in ministries, public entities, and governorates, where 7,820 certificates were handed out.
