The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) is participating as a key government partner in a number of events held during the United Nations (UN) Climate Change Conference 2022 (COP27), hosted in Sharm El Sheikh, on November 6-18, under the presidency of Egypt.
One of those key events is the panel discussion “Supporting Innovation: Raising Social Awareness with the Help of Digital Platforms for Climate Change”, organized on November 17, at 10:00-11:00 AM, Hall B-HD, in the Green Zone, as part of the agenda of the Solutions Day. The session will be streamed online.
The panel discussion is held under the theme “Digital path for sustainable green recovery”. It will highlight the significant role of innovative digital platforms in raising awareness of climate change, relaying accurate information, instilling a positive and proactive behavior toward environmental challenges, and inspiring people with innovative ideas in related business fields.
High-profile experts from governments, academia, private sector, UN agencies, and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) will join the session. They will share their experiences, ideas and best practices, helping inspire national policies and strategies in different countries and build future alliances and collaborations.
The aim of the session is to deepen the dialogue on the future of digital platforms by widening the scope of climate change awareness and accelerating global environmental actions. The discussion will set a foundation for further collaboration among stakeholders to better promote digital platforms and stimulate the platforms start-up industry.
COP27 is a golden opportunity for all stakeholders to rise to the occasion and effectively tackle the global challenge of climate change. Egypt’s COP27 vision is to move from negotiations and planning to implementation, with a clear recognition of the gravity of the global climate challenge and appreciation of the value of multilateral, collective and concerted action as the only means to address this global threat.
