The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has visited Jordan to participate in MENA ICT Forum 2022 and meet with his Jordanian counterpart.
During the Forum, held on November 16-17, the ICT Minister delivered a speech at a session titled “Bridging Borders - A Digital Collaboration.” The session was joined by the Minister of Entrepreneurship and Empowerment and the Minister of Communication and Information Technology in Palestine, and it was moderated by the Jordanian Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship.
In his speech, Talaat highlighted Egypt’s vision of digital transformation, digital services, and efforts of cooperation between the public and private sectors in achieving digital transformation. He also presented the capacity-building strategy adopted by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), as well as the Digital Egypt strategy that MCIT has been undertaking.
As part of his visit, the ICT Minister met with the Jordanian Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Ahmad Hanandeh. They discussed enhancing cooperation in ICT fields, most notably data centers, digital transformation, interconnection, and the post.
The two sides explored leveraging the Egyptian international network and connecting it with the fiber optic networks in Jordan. Telecom Egypt’s efforts were also presented during the meeting, including in providing high-quality and efficient data transfer and transit services to the Jordanian market through the company’s point of presence in Aqaba.
Furthermore, the two sides discussed fostering collaboration between Egypt Post and Jordan Post and sharing Egypt’s successful experience in the post area.
The meeting built on the discussions held between the two sides to enhance cooperation between Egypt and Jordan in ICT, strengthen ties, and promote joint initiatives.
