MCIT Launches Training Program, Campaign to Raise Awareness of Digital Risks

The Central Department for Digital Community Development at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has launched a training program and an awareness campaign on online safety strategies and fundamentals of digital citizenship, in cooperation with the National Council for Women (NCW) at NCW various branches in Cairo and Assiut.

The program came within the framework of the Digital Citizenship initiative to organize several relevant training programs and awareness sessions in Cairo and Assiut.

The program trained around 80 NCW female trainers of the Training of Trainers (TOT) program on online safety strategies and fundamentals of digital citizenship, on November 30 and December 1.

The training aims at introducing digital citizenship and its main pillars, and various related practical applications. Furthermore, the program includes an introduction to the “Be Internet Legends” program provided by Google.

The Digital Citizenship initiative collaborates with NCW “You are Safe” initiative under the theme "No electronic blackmail". The initiative supports women and girls against violence and e-blackmail and helps them to be protected against any digital threats and risks.

MCIT has been working with local and international partners to develop measures to protect young people and children online by raising awareness of the dangers associated with the use of the Internet—especially social media, combating violence and cybercrime; promoting the use of safety programs; and working to promote online safety. Accordingly, the Digital Citizenship initiative has been launched to promote the safe and effective use of technology, especially for children and young people, and to introduce ways and methods of online safety by raising awareness and creating a safe cyberspace.
