Egypt Post Issues Commemorative Stamp on Egypt Post Day

Egypt Post has issued a postage stamp commemorating Egypt Post Day, celebrated every year on January 2, marking the establishment of Egypt Post in 1865.

Egypt Post Day is a memorable historical day on which Posta Europea was transferred to the Egyptian government. Thenceforth, Egypt Post has been making remarkable achievements thanks to the huge efforts made to serve and meet the needs of all Egyptians. Owing to those efforts, Egypt Post has gained global recognition among postal entities and institutions, reflecting Egypt’s leadership in the field of postal services.

The design of the stamp blends history and modernity. It features photos of the iconic Cairo Main Post Office, which has been developed and refurbished, with its historic value and original design remaining intact. The Office was equipped with advanced systems and technological solutions to offer all types of financial, postal, and governmental services as well as Digital Egypt services.

Cairo Main Post Office extends over 1,220 square meters. It has 32 customer service counters, a three-window VIP room, and a disability counter. The Office has three ATMs and seven customer queue displays.

Egypt Post issued two 5x3 cm stamps and one 3x2.5 cm. The stamps have been created using multicolor offset printing and anti-counterfeiting technology, with each sold for EGP 10. They feature a QR code that, when scanned, enables collectors to learn about the occasion in an untraditional innovative way.
