MCIT Launches ‘Initiators Assistive Technology Award’

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), represented by the National Academy of Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities (NAID), is organizing the Initiators Assistive Technology (iAT) Award competition, in partnership with the Ministry of Social Solidarity and under the patronage of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.

iAT is designed to recognize start-ups, entrepreneurs, and institutions specializing in AT and technological accessibility in Egypt to support the efforts made to indigenize the AT industry. Assistive Technology is any item, piece of equipment, software, or product system used to enhance the capabilities of PwDs to help them live independently and support their inclusion and empowerment.

The Award is aimed at highlighting the significant role of technology in facilitating PwDs lives. It has been launched as part of MCIT efforts to promote the use of technology and avail the different segments of society of ICT to help achieve social justice.

A highly-qualified jury will screen the submitted projects and select the best of them to participate in the competition. Participants, during the competition, will showcase their solutions, and three cash prizes worth EGP 50,000 per prize will be awarded to the top participants. The winners will have the chance to further develop their solutions in collaboration with NAID through its advanced assistive technology center of excellence.

NAID is a national academy affiliated with MCIT. The Academy was established to empower and support the inclusion of PwDs in society, using ICT.

The deadline for application for iAT Award is January 14 at 12:00 PM. For registration, kindly click here.
