The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) participated in the High-Level Conference of the “Support to Enhanced Administrative and Public Economic Governance in Egypt“ project. The event was held on February 8-9, in Cairo.

The project is implemented by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and funded by the European Union (EU).

The Conference comprised sessions and panel discussions that focused on employing the project to fulfill the country's development priorities. It was attended by government organizations and development partners, in the presence of the European Union Ambassador to Egypt, Minister of International Cooperation, President of the Central Agency for Organization and Administration (CAOA), Deputy ICT Minister for Institutional Development, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Planning and Economic Development; and Deputy Director, OECD Directorate of Public Governance.

MCIT efforts in institutional development were showcased during the conference, including in cooperating with state institutions and national and international partners to create an enabling ecosystem for institutional and digital innovation. The aim is to build a safe digital society, upgrade the technological infrastructure, leaving no one offline; and develop a regulatory framework supportive of the digital ecosystem.

As part of the Conference, a session was held under the theme “Promoting the administrative simplification of digital public services in Egypt.” MCIT efforts in building Digital Egypt was explained during the session, including in preparing individuals and institutions to absorb digital transformation and automation. The Ministry also works to build and develop people’s digital skills in line with the Egyptian Constitution, Egypt’s Vision 2030, Agenda 2063 of Africa, the Arab Digital Agenda 2023, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The digital transformation projects in Egypt also align with the “Digital Egypt 360” vision, which builds on the efforts made to achieve the integration and exchange of national databases among state institutions.

The session also explained the role of MCIT in Ahmose Project that targets restructuring government operations and applications. This is in addition to the Ministry’s role in the Government-to-Government (G2G) project, which facilitates the exchange of data among government agencies to facilitate citizens' access to services provided by different agencies, through a single channel.

The High-level Conference is the second meeting of OECD Technical Advisory Group (TAG). The first was held in September 2022.
