The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) has received a delegation from the Egyptian Commercial Services (ECS). They explored opportunities of cooperation between ITIDA and ESC offices overseas to clear the hurdles impeding the growth and promotion of IT outsourcing (ITO) and business process outsourcing (BPO) services exports.
The meeting is part of the efforts of cooperation among state agencies to boost Egyptian exports, help exporters access foreign markets, and improve export competitiveness, in line with the ambitious national plan to bring export volume to $100 billion.
ECS is a key player in stimulating the growth of Egyptian exports. The meeting explored Digital Egypt Strategy for Offshoring Industry 2022-2026 of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT). The Strategy is aimed at tripling the export revenue from digitally-enabled offshoring services, introducing a new incentive scheme to attract investors, and enhancing the country’s competitiveness in the R&D and value-added service (VAS) industries to accelerate the transition to a knowledge economy.
ITIDA has been working to attract multinationals to open global delivery centers in Egypt, helping position the country as a global offshoring hub. In addition, the Agency is committed to training young people in different technology specializations, launching leading initiatives such as Egypt Future Work is Digital (Egypt FWD), and establishing Creativa Innovation Hubs in all parts of the country. The aim is to foster youth ideas, empower them to start their business, and qualify young Egyptians for the ITO/BPO job marketplace.
