Three teams, winning in the finals of the International Informatics Olympiad in Teams (IIOT) 2023-Egypt, will represent Egypt in the International Informatics Olympiad in Teams (IIOT), hosted in Egypt in May. The finals of IIOT-Egypt was held on March 9-11, at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) Campus in Port Said, under the auspices of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT).
IIOT Egypt finals starts in November, through four online competitions organized over the course of four months. The top performing teams are selected to participate in the national finals, and the winning teams represent Egypt in the international finals, held in May. The national competition is organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) in collaboration with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT).
IIOT aims to encourage high school students to focus on informatics, programming and problem-solving skills. It also seeks to promote teamwork spirit to enhance knowledge and experience exchange among youngsters who share the same interests and qualifications, as participants join in teams.
It is worth mentioning that Egypt officially joined IIOT as Regular Member in 2021. IIOT is a flagship computer science competition that targets high school students, just like the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), except problems in IIOT are solved in four-member teams, using only two computers for each team.
