Egypt to Host IIOT 2023 Finals

Egypt will host the International Informatics Olympiads in Teams (IIOT) 2023 finals on May 26-30. The event is organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) Port Said Campus. Twenty-five teams, representing different countries, are competing in IIOT.

Earlier this month, the top three teams at IIOT Egypt were qualified to represent Egypt in IIOT 2023. The national finals were held on March 9-11 at AASTMT Port Said Campus, under the auspices of MCIT.

The qualifying rounds of IIOT Egypt kicked off in November. Over four months, four online contests were organized to spot the best teams and announce the winners that will represent Egypt in the international competition.

It is worth noting that in 2021, Egypt officially joined IIOT as a Regular Member.

IIOT is a flagship computer science competition that aims to get high school students interested in informatics, programming, and problem-solving. The competition helps build team spirit and promotes the exchange of knowledge and experience among youngsters who share the same interests and qualifications. IIOT participants compete in four-member teams, with each team using only two computers.

A student must have spent years of study and training in programming and problem-solving to make it through IIOT qualifiers. Only through the months-long national qualifiers can students join the international competition.
