MCIT Launches ‘DEBI Robotics Challenge’ for Future Innovators

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has launched the Digital Egypt Builders Initiative (DEBI) Robotics Challenge, in collaboration with Huawei and Egypt University of Informatics (EUI).

The competition is within the Robotics and Automation track of DEBI, a fully-funded scholarship by MCIT, that aims to cultivate professionals and unlock young Egyptians’ potential.

DEBI Robotics Challenge is a physical competition tailored to advance robotic software and autonomous capabilities. It targets DEBI participants, students at the faculties of engineering, and computers and information, and graduates (with no more than five years since graduation) with related majors.

The Challenge is a competition between robots in one-vs-one matches that take place in a predefined playground. DEBI will provide each team (of 3-5 members) with a TurtleBot equipped with a manipulator to use during the challenge. Teams can also bring their own robots to compete with.
Winners of the Challenge receive cash prizes of EGP 80,000 for first place, EGP 60,000 for second place, and EGP 40,000 for third place.
