MCIT, MLD Conclude Digital Project Management Workshop


The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and the Ministry of Local Development (MLD) have concluded the digital project management workshop, held at the Local Development Center in Sakkara, under the auspices of the Minister of communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat and the Minister of Local Development Hisham Amna.
 
The workshop aimed to train employees at the information systems and digital transformation units in governorates on planning, implementing, and following up on national investment projects at governorates’ general bureaus, subordinate directorates, affiliated centers and departments to improve staff’s knowledge and skills in digital project management. It focused on managing projects, implementing project initiation and planning processes as well as control and monitoring, preparing and upskilling the staff, and enhancing digital follow-up and evaluation of the projects to ensure their sustainability and support decision-making.
 
The workshop targeted training employees at governorates to understand the concepts and develop the skills of sustainable resource management, and empowering them to leverage digital project management tools in implementing and managing short and medium-term projects. This will increase the efficiency of using available resources, rationalizing expenditure, reducing waste, and preserving the environment. It also aimed to implement the governorates’ digital institutional development plan, build employees’ digital capabilities, develop work mechanisms, and enhance the role of digitization in managing government processes efficiently and effectively.
 
During the workshop closing ceremony, certificates of completion were handed over to the participants from the information systems and digital transformation units from 14 governorates, namely Marsa Matrouh, Kafr El-Sheikh, Qalyubia, Cairo, Fayoum, Gharbia, Sharqia, Suez, Sohag, Damietta, Giza, the Red Sea, Aswan, and Alexandria.
 
Several students from public and private universities in Giza participated in the workshop, which is in line with promoting youth’s participation in development projects implemented by the country in all its sectors.
 
The workshop has been organized in line with the objectives of “Digital Egypt” strategy and as part of MCIT efforts to achieve digital institutional development to support digital transformation nationwide. These efforts included developing digital administrative capabilities for employees and leaders to achieve digital transformation and ensure its sustainability. This is in addition to benefiting from the outcomes of visits and continuous periodic meetings between officials of the two ministries and the governorates to promote institutional development, digital transformation, and business sustainability.
