ICT Minister Visit to Menoufia


The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat and Governor of Menoufia Ibrahim Abu Lamoun have made a tour to open and inspect a number of projects implemented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) in the villages targeted within the Decent Life initiative in Menoufia Governorate. They have been received by the Managing Director and CEO of Telecom Egypt Mohamed Nasr, and a number of Telecom Egypt’s officials.
 
The ICT Minister and Menoufia Governor inspected the establishment of the communications network and the installment of fiber optical cables in Shamma village at Ashmoun district, within the framework of the project undertaken by Telecom Egypt to provide high-speed Internet services in Decent Life villages.
 
Nasr provided a detailed explanation about Telecom Egypt's projects to develop the communications infrastructure in Menoufia governorate, where Telecom Egypt has successfully implemented digital transformation in government agencies and institutions in the governorate.
 
Talaat and Abu Lamoun opened three post offices: Quesna Post Office, Shamma Post Office and Shebin El Kom Post Office. The three offices were developed and equipped with the latest technological systems and solutions to render all financial, postal, governmental and Digital Egypt services to citizens. In addition, Talaat and Abu Lamoun also inspected Telecom Egypt's store in Shebin El-Kom 1.
 
The ICT Minister and Menoufia Governor also inspected the training activities and programs organized by MCIT at Shamma Youth Center to build capacities and improve digital skills for the people of Shamma village, within the framework of building digital capabilities and eradicating digital illiteracy to disseminate digital culture, improve digital skills, and promote people’s digital economic empowerment in the villages targeted within Decent Life.
 
Talaat and Abu Lamoun also visited Creativa Innovation Hub at Menoufia University. The Hub aims at providing technical training and developing technological skills for university students and graduates, and youth from Menoufia Governorate, allowing for a smooth transition into the local and global labor market in IT areas, and creating an environment conducive to promoting digital innovation and entrepreneurship.
 
During his visit, Talaat met with a group of young people from Menoufia Governorate, beneficiaries of the training and entrepreneurship support programs provided by MCIT. A number of distinguished graduates of those programs, implemented within Creativa Innovation Hub in Menoufia, presented their successful experiences.
 
The ICT Minister and Menoufia Governor witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MCIT and Menoufia Governorate to enhance cooperation in implementing digital institutional development projects in the governorate’s general bureau, subordinate entities, and service directorates and carrying out digital awareness activities for citizens of the governorate, especially in the rural villages targeted within the Decent Life initiative.
 
In a similar vein, Talaat and Abu Lamoun witnessed the signing of another MoU between MCIT and Menoufia Governorate to develop and build citizens’ digital capabilities and attain sustainable community development in Menoufia.
