The Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC) of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) hosted “iHeritage's Prefinal Showcase: Rediscovering Egypt's Rich Legacy through Technology Solutions” on August 16 at Creativa Innovation Hub in Sultan Hussein Kamel Palace, Cairo.
The event was co-organized by Galala University, Warrd, ENI CBC Med Programme, and the Confederation of Egyptian European Business Associations (CEEBA).
The Prefinal Showcase represented a journey where technology and history intertwined. Egypt's captivating secrets were unveiled, as Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and hologram technologies brought its ancient mysteries to life. The event explored Egypt’s rich legacy through the lens of cutting-edge solutions.
Renowned experts and industry leaders shared profound insights into the pivotal role technology plays in preserving cultural heritage.
The event was held as part of iHeritage, a project by the European Union (EU) that brings together Italy, Egypt, Spain, Jordan, Lebanon, and Portugal. The project supports the technological transfer and commercialization of new AR/VR tools aimed at enhancing access to Mediterranean UNESCO cultural heritage, both tangible and intangible, by creating cross-border living labs for research and innovation. iHeritage delivers on its objectives by investing in new start-ups and spin-offs; and new products, building on industry-academia/research collaboration, using the latest ICTs such as AR, VR, and Mixed Reality (MR).
It is worth mentioning that Egypt hosts some of the most magnificent UNESCO heritage sites in the world. The country cooperates with international bodies and organizations such as the EU to preserve its cultural heritage, which helps stimulate economic growth, job creation, and protection of its heritage of immense value.
