First Blockchain Hackathon: Empowering Youth through Technology
The first blockchain hackathon for students and graduates is co-organized by Creativa Innovation Hubs, the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC), Pend, Giza Systems, the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI), and Giza Systems Foundation.
The five-day hackathon kicks off on September 27, online. It targets students and graduates who are enthusiastic about blockchain, Web 3, or technology at large, in Cairo, Alexandria, Menoufia, Ismailia, Beni Suef, Fayoum, Minya, Sohag, Qena, New Valley, Aswan, and Mansoura.
The main objectives of the hackathon include availing youth, SMEs, and entrepreneurs of emerging technologies such as blockchain and AI, and developing tools or mechanisms to achieve economic empowerment and financial inclusion for young Egyptians through technology.
Participants of the hackathon are expected to develop practical solutions to address several problems. The first is Accessibility: How to make emerging technologies accessible and understandable to Egyptian youth. Empowerment is the second problem; it focuses on developing tools or blockchain-powered platforms to empower young people through their journey toward economic empowerment and financial inclusion. The third is Education: How to use blockchain to promote digital literacy among youth and reduce the digital divide.
The final solutions should be practical, scalable, and have a clear roadmap for implementation. They should also consider Egypt's social and economic issues, especially the needs and challenges that Egyptian youth and entrepreneurs experience.
At the end of the hackathon, participants with the best ideas receive support to turn their ideas into reality. Top performers are granted a training opportunity at Giza Systems, the chance to join the programs offered by Creativa Innovation Hubs, and certificates from the event partners.
The deadline for applications is September 17. To apply, kindly click
