Egypt Partakes in Web Summit 2023

Egypt, represented by the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and the Digital Economy and Technology General Division (DETGD) of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce (FEDCOC), is participating in Web Summit 2023, held on November 13-16 in Lisbon, Portugal. ITIDA and DETGD are supporting 33 exhibiting and visiting startups in Egypt’s national pavilion at the Summit.

Web Summit is the world’s premier tech conference. It represents a golden opportunity for small businesses to attract foreign investments and build partnerships. The Summit brings together 70,000+ attendees, 800+ speakers, 900+ investors, 300+ partners, and 2,600+ startups from 160+ countries.

The Egypt pavilion will feature innovative services and solutions developed by Egyptian startups. There is also the partners' pavilion that will host meetings of startups.

Exhibiting startups include Synapse Analytics, intella, MARSES Robotics, AppAsap, Robota Industries, Insala Robotics, Stacks, SIDEUP, Spare, LeadSmart, Educatly, Bekia, The Baby Garage, Cosmos Bionics, EL-Dokan, OBM Education, Egrobots, Front Door, CliniDo, Amwal, Pianat.ai, Wfrley, Sprints, and Awfar. Visiting startups include Chefaa, MedEx, Swft, Interact Labs, Tatbeek, Easy T, MazAid, CoatConnect, and Vexls (Tasmimak).

Eighty-four startups applied to participate in Web Summit, of which 48 were shortlisted. They pitched before a jury consisting of members from ITIDA, DETGD, and the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC). Startups were assessed following certain criteria, including the level of innovation over competition, potential market size, broad applicability, international scalability, inevitability, and representative professionalism.

The participation in Web Summit reflects the huge efforts of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and ITIDA to nurture innovators and entrepreneurs, support startups and increase their potential to attract investors by participating in global and regional events.

Egypt is participating in Web Summit for the 4th consecutive year. In 2022, the country took part in the global event with a national pavilion that hosted 23 startups, in addition to a delegation from DETGD.

ITIDA and DETGD, through their participation in Web Summit, strive to strengthen Egypt’s position on the global map of innovation and entrepreneurship, promote the Egyptian startup ecosystem, and showcase the national incentives and competitive advantages in this area. The aim is to attract more angel investors, venture capital (VC) firms, and innovation platforms to the Egyptian market.
