The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has visited New Valley Governorate to open and inspect several projects implemented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT). He was accompanied by the Governor of New Valley Mohamed Salman Al Zamlot and officials.
During his visit, Talaat, Al Zamlot and the Minister of Education and Technical Education Reda Hegazy opened Creativa Innovation Hub in Kharga. The Hub has been established within the framework of the cooperation between MCIT and New Valley Governorate and MCIT plan to deploy Creativa Innovation Hubs nationwide to build youth capabilities and promote technological innovation and entrepreneurship.
During the opening ceremony, Talaat attended a presentation on the role of the Information Technology Institute (ITI) and the National Telecommunication Institute (NTI) as part of the New Valley Hub’s activities. He also met with young people who received the ITI scholarship on renewable energy and IoT.
In a similar vein, the ICT Minister and New Valley Governor opened the geoportal in the governorate’s general bureau and also inspected MCIT work to connect the June 30 Government Complex to the New Administrative Capital.
Following the opening, the ICT Minister participated in a meeting organized in the general bureau. The meeting was attended by several members of the House of Representatives and the Senate, and senior officials from the governorate’s general bureau.
Furthermore, Talaat and Al Zamlot witnessed the signing of an MoU between MCIT and New Valley Governorate on cooperation in implementing digital institutional development projects in the governorate’s general bureau, subordinate entities, and service directorates, and carrying out digital awareness activities to develop the digital capabilities of disadvantaged families to empower them economically, thus providing a decent life.
Talaat, Hegazy, and Al Zamlot also inaugurated Telecom Egypt’s WE Applied Technology School in Kharga. They were received by Managing Director and CEO Mohamed Nasr El-Din and senior officials at Telecom Egypt.
The inauguration of WE ATS is within the framework of the protocol of cooperation between the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, MCIT, New Valley Governorate, and Telecom Egypt. The protocol aims to develop and partially transform Kharga Technical School for Girls into WE ATS.
Following the inauguration, Talaat and Hegazy had an open discussion with a group of students at WE ATS. He listened to their views on the teaching method and academic programs, and how they benefit from them.
Concluding his visit to New Valley, the ICT Minister inspected Kharga Specialized Hospital. He was accompanied by the Governor of New Valley and the Minister of Education, and they were received by the Advisor to the ICT Minister for Digital Community Development Hoda Dahroug.
Kharga Specialized Hospital provides medical services within the framework of the telemedicine system, implemented in cooperation among MCIT, the Ministry of Health and Population, and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
They also visited the Intellectual Education School and Al Amal School for the Deaf in Kharga. They were received by the Chairman of the National Academy of Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities (NAID) AbdEl-Monem El-Sharkawy.
MCIT provided the schools with technological programs and supported the development of technological capabilities. The Ministry also equipped the schools with computers, printers, and projectors to facilitate the students’ access to education and provide specialized technological training for teachers.
During the tour, Talaat and the accompanying delegation were introduced to various educational activities that help students develop their skills and capabilities using technology. They also visited the student exhibition, and some students delivered art performances.
The ICT Minister listened to technological needs-related demands for the schools of the governorate. He called for providing more support to students with disabilities in New Valley and nationwide.
Moreover, the ICT Minister, accompanied by New Valley Governor, inspected Salam Post building, which is consisted of two floors and provides all postal and financial services to citizens. They were received by Acting Chairperson of Egypt Post Abdo Elwan.
