The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Yasser ElKady met, today, with Ghana's Minister of Communications Ursula Owusu-Ekuful to discuss means of cooperation on a number of topics related to the ICT field.
During the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the two ministries, aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation in the ICT field; developing and supporting training opportunities; setting policies; and promoting research, innovation and entrepreneurship, benefiting both public and private sectors.
The two-year MoU includes areas of cooperation between the two ministries in planning and establishing technology parks in Ghana. This is in addition to transferring Egyptian expertise to the Ghanaian side in the fields of electronic applications, e-government, infrastructure, data centers, cybersecurity, innovation, entrepreneurship and documentation of Ghana's cultural and natural heritage.
The agreement was signed by the ICT Minister Yasser ElKady, and Ghana's Minister of Communications Ursula Owusu-Ekuful.
ElKady also met with Sudan's Minister of Communications and Information Technology Tahani Abdullah Attia, where they discussed means to enhance bilateral cooperation and exchange scientific and technical expertise related to ICTs.
During the meeting, an MoU was signed between the two ministries. The MoU entails bilateral cooperation in strengthening the legal environment in ICTs. This is in addition to exchanging experiences in telecommunications regulation affairs and the Arab digital content industry; building human capacity; and enhancing the efficiency of Small and Medium Sizes Enterprises (SMEs) operating in the ICT sector, cybersecurity and fighting against cybercrime.
The MoU also includes cooperation in the field of supporting the information technology industry, especially in the field of software, to improve the technical level of this industry. This is in addition to the project of Accessibility to ICT Services by Persons with Disabilities (PwDs); technological and innovation incubators and how to provide excellent postal services. It also entails cooperation in coordinating the position of both countries in international and regional forums and international organizations specialized in the ICT field.
The MoU was signed by the ICT Minister Yasser ElKady and Sudan's Minister of Communications and Information Technology Tahani Abdullah Attia. The MoU is of a renewable period of two years.
