Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Tarek Kamel witnessed today the signing of an agreement between the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and the German Software Quality Systems (SQS) Group on establishing a regional center in Egypt.
The center will be specialized in exporting quality assurance and testing services of software programs to Middle Eastern and European markets. ITIDA Executive Chairman Eng. Mohamed Omran and SQS board member Mr. Axil Bartman signed the agreement.
The center is due to begin its operations in the first quarter of 2008. It is expected to facilitate 500 job opportunities for recent graduates in the upcoming five years. The company will be offering training courses jointly with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
This agreement comes as part of MCIT's plan to boost the Egyptian Information and Communications Technology (ICT) outsourcing services.
SQS Group has chosen Egypt as the venue for the center over other countries for its distinguished geographical location, the environment attracting foreign investments and the availability of professional Egyptian calibers.
Founded in Cologne, Germany, in 1982, SQS Group is Europe's largest independent provider of software testing and quality management services. The company also has a strong presence in the UK and offices in Austria, Ireland, the Netherlands, South Africa and Switzerland. In 2006 the group achieved revenues of 78.9 million € (2005: 55 million €).
