ICT Minister Receives S. Korea Ambassador, Meets Chargé d’Affaires to U.S. Mission


The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has received the South Korean Ambassador to Egypt Yoon Yoshiol who congratulated him for his new position. The meeting reviewed the State’s strategy to establish a national electronics industry to meet local demands and exports abroad; and discussed means of enhancing cooperation between the country in this field. 

Talaat also received the Chargé d’Affaires to the U.S. Mission in Egypt Thomas H. Goldberger who congratulated him on his appointment as ICT Minister, wishing him success.

The meeting discussed a number of priority topics in the Egyptian ICT sector, the most important of which is the implementation of the State’s plan for digital transformation, the development of training programs for capacity building and the use of technical support through cooperation between the National Telecommunication Institute (NTI), the Information Technology Institute (ITI) and the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA). A meeting is set to be held to bring MCIT officials together with USTDA to discuss means of joint cooperation.

The meeting also discussed means to increase the presence of medium-sized American technology companies in Egypt through implementing a number of events, including coordinating with the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) to invite an investment delegation to visit Egypt in October.
