Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Tarek Kamel witnessed today the signing of an agreement on establishing a global contact center for Sykes Enterprises in Contact Center Park in Maadi.
The new contact center will serve the company's clients in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region and the United States in the six languages of English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Arabic. The company will hire a total of 1000 specialists over the coming three years.
The new project comes as part of the initiatives of Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) carried out by Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA).
Such projects aim to increase exports and attract further multinational companies to invest in Egypt's IT and business process outsourcing (BPO) sector.
Establishing the Sykes center in the Contact Center Park in Maadi confirms Egypt's status as a promising BPO market, Dr. Kamel stated.
According to Minister Kamel, these centers offer Egyptian youths distinguished job opportunities. They also prove the success of Egypt in attracting foreign investments, especially that the country possesses several factors qualifying it to effectively compete in this domain, he added.
Dr. Kamel pointed out that Egypt has become a regional hub gathering mega specialized international companies, serving clients all over the world. This way Egypt gains its fair share of such a promising industry, he explained.
The value of Egypt's exports of outsourcing industry will be over one billion dollars by the end of this year. This number is expected to be the double by 2013.
Based on the agreement, ITIDA will offer Sykes technical support in the fields of training, transmission lines and international telecommunication tariffs to encourage the company to expand its business in Egypt.
Sykes center will be the first presence of an IT services provision company in the Contact Center Park in Maadi. About 70 specialists offer services in English and French at the 2600-meter center, which operates in the pilot phase.
