Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Tarek Kamel and Mr. R. Scott Murray, Chairman and CEO, Stream Global Services, inaugurated today the company’s First footprint in the Region.
Established in Sixth of October Governorate, the center will offer outsourcing services for clients in North America and Europe in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Arabic. A total of 600 specialists currently work at the center.
Dr. Kamel noted that Stream’s new Center is an achievement of MCIT’s mission to the US last June. During the mission, Egypt signed a number of cooperation agreements with a number of US/multinational ICT technology innovators and service providers, including Stream Global Services. The agreements aimed to attract further investments to the Egyptian ICT sector.
“Stream has benefited from the incentive packages provided by Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) to global players in the outsourcing industry”. Minister Kamel added, “This is demonstrated in the form of facilitation of training of human caliber and reduced international telecom tariffs in addition to others to encourage and expand investments in Egypt”.
ITIDA CEO Dr. Hazem Abdelazim pointed out that Stream’s choice of Egypt to host the company's first center in the Middle East confirms the fact that the country is on the right track in carrying out its strategy to become a business process outsourcing hub in the region.
Mr. Amin khair El Din, ITIDA Board Member and Strategy Advisor, said that the number of job opportunities Stream will facilitate is expected to reach 1000 by midyear. Notably, two more centers will be inaugurated in Cairo in the coming period, in addition to another under construction in Alexandria.
“We have several programs and projects for qualifying human calibers, which represent a major factor in attracting further direct foreign investments into the sector,” Dr. Abdelazim added.
Raya Contact Center had cooperated with Stream in establishing the center. Eng. Medhat Kahlil, Chairman and CEO of Raya Holding, expressed his appreciation for the Egyptian Government’s efforts throughout the past years, aiming to position Egypt as an outsourcing destination.
“We could see an unprecedented success rate. The model of Stream kicked off in Egypt with 50 seats. Based on the success of this experience, the company decided to expand its activities in Egypt to serve its clients in different languages worldwide,” Eng. Khalil added.
“Our Cairo service center has proven to be a great addition to our established footprint in EMEA and our new facility further underlines the great success that Stream has achieved in this growing geographic market for our global client base,” Mr. Murray said.
According to Mr. Murray, the center is perfectly suited to support the company’s existing and future client base, with its highly technical support professionals and extensive language support.
