Dr. Kamel Inaugurates New ICT and Post Projects in Sharkia


Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Tarek Kamel and Sharkia Governor Counselor Yahia Abdel-Mageed inaugurated today a number of new projects in the fields of information and communications technology (ICT) and post in the governorate.
 
Dr. Kamel and Counselor Abdel-Mageed began their inaugural tour by meeting the public and executive leaderships of Sharkia at the municipality premises.
 
The municipality headquarters contains a center for conducting the necessary tests to acquire the International Computer Driving License (ICDL). The center encompasses 16 computers and two training labs, each contains 24 computers. Accreditation for three new centers is underway to meet the increasing demands of Sharkia residents.

Separately, Dr. Kamel along with Governor Abdel-Mageed, in the presence Minister of Social Solidarity Dr. Ali Al-Moselhi, inaugurated Telecom Egypt's Customer Service Center in Abu Kebeer and Abu Kebeer Post Office II. The office has been modeled and connected electronically to Egypt Post network to facilitate all modern services.

Minister Kamel and Governor Abdel-Mageed also commenced a training center providing ICDL at the Egyptian Society for Community Service in Abu Kebeer.
In other news, Dr. Kamel and Counselor Abdel-Mageed, in the presence of Minister of Agriculture Eng. Amin Abaza, inaugurated Al-Rab'amiya post office. The office offers postal, financial and community services to the area residents area. 

In a separate development, Minister Kamel and Governor Abdel-Mageed commenced Telecom Egypt's Customer Service Center in Mashtoul Al-Shouk after being modeled and developed. The total cost of the upgrade of the center and the customer service center in Abu Kebeer is about LE 750,000.

The two centers offer a variety of  modern services for citizens like receiving requests, providing contracts for new phone lines, selling additional land line features, local, direct and international phone services, telegraph and phone bill inquiries and fees collection, sales of prepaid cards and other services. Representatives of TEData company are also available at Abu Kebeer customer service to offer ADSL services.

A total of 124 exchanges centers are available in Sharkia. The number of phone subscribers in the governorate amount to 652.332 ones with a phone density of 11.4% person. About LE 737 million have been spent on telecommunication infrastructure since 1999 in Sharkia.

The post offices in Abu Kebeer and Al-Rob'amiya offer all postal, financial and community services that citizens in Sharkia and governmental agencies may need.

The two offices have been connected electronically to Egypt Post network. They have always been equipped with computers to enable them to offer all modern services like express mail, current accounts with daily interests, immediate money orders and saving accounts.

Abu Kebeer II contains nine outlets while Al-Rob'amiya has five ones to serve citizens. Al-Sharkia postal Zone contains 303 post offices, 82 of them have been modeled and equipped with computers. 

More than 189260 pensioners receive their monthly payments from the post office. Pensions are also delivered to the homes of 4090 beneficiaries. Saving account clients amount to 1183607. A total of 2663 work at the Sharkia postal zone.

Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) offers grant to acquire ICDL certificates as part of the ministry's plan to spread IT tools among all social segments. The MCIT program targets to certify 500,000 citizens every year from all social segments.

The program has been carried out in cooperation with Ministry of Education, Ministry of Higher Education and State for Scientific Research and Ministry of State for Administrative Development.

It aims to provide IT training for students, administrators and teaching staff of public universities, civil servants and recent graduates and public sector employees. 

More than 265000 citizens have received ICDL so far nationwide, 12500 of them from Sharkia through 10 certified centers in the govenorate. In addition, 10 citizens from Sharkia work as ICDL quality assurance officers.
