Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Tarek Kamel will head for Malaysia in an official visit due from 5-7 March 2010.
Dr. Kamel will be accompanied by an official delegation consisting of information and communication technology (ICT) sector leaders, senior officials from Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), the Smart Village Company and Egypt Post as well as a trade mission of Egyptian ICT companies and civil society organizations.
Minister Kamel will commence the business trip by visiting Cyberjaya, Malaysia's intelligent city, where he is scheduled to meet the city CEO and Managing Director.
During the visit, Dr. Kamel will tour the city, which hosts business centers, Multimedia University and the headquarters of several multinational companies including Dell, Hewlett-Packard, DHL, Mahindra Satyam, Wipro Technologies, HSBC Group, Ericsson, Motorola, OCBC Group, BMW, IBM Corp., Shell IT, Monster.com, Vianova Systems, EDS and others.
Such companies make use of the incentives the city offers. Cyberjaya also hosts a center for combating money laundering and the premises of a number of governmental entities.
Separately, Minister Kamel is scheduled to visit Malaysian Computer Emergency Readiness Team (MyCERT).
MyCERT was established by the Malaysian Government in 1997. It deals with computer security incidents and methods of prevention in cooperation with internet service providers (ISP)s and other emergency centers around the world.
In July 2009, Dr. Kamel had witnessed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing between National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) and MyCERT.
The MoU was aimed at setting a general framework for cooperation in fighting cyber crimes through the Egyptian Computer Emergency Readiness Team (EG-CERT).
Also during the business trip, Dr. Kamel and his accompanying delegation are due to visit Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC), a national institution that works on developing businesses in multimedia field and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises.
Meanwhile, Dr. Kamel will stop by MIMOS Berhad, an R&D organization that functions as an advisor to the Malaysian Government on technologies, policies and strategies relating to technological development.
The organization's research areas focus on cyberspace security, encryption systems, grid computing, communication technologies, micro energy, micro systems (MEMS/NEMS), advanced informatics and knowledge technology.
MIMOS Berhad plays a vital role in certifying Malaysian companies that operate in micro systems in a bid to produce technological products and applications to meet local and international markets needs.
