The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has met with the Estonian Ambassador to Egypt Sander Soone, where they discussed enhancing cooperation in ICT fields, and agreed on implementing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed in 2014, especially in fields of digital transformation, cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

They also agreed that an Egyptian delegation would pay a visit to Estonia next year to discuss fostering joint cooperation. A meeting to be held between the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and a number of Estonian companies was also agreed upon to learn about the investment incentives that Egypt offers.

The meeting also discussed cooperation between the two countries in the field of training and capacity building, through participating in training programs carried out by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) in order to build the capacities of Egyptian postgraduate education students to professionally qualify them for the labor market.

In addition, Talaat reviewed the most important projects implemented by MCIT to enable the transition to a digital society and create a better regulatory environment that gain citizens’ confidence and help to combat financial and administrative corruption through providing advanced electronic services.

For his part, Soone welcomed cooperation between the two countries in the field of ICTs. He reviewed Estonia's most important achievements in this field, especially in terms of digital transformation and e-government. He invited the ICT Minister to visit Estonia to learn more about the Estonian experience, in the field of ICT, based on Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) that have led to a boom in the industry, particularly in the digital community, digital identity cards, e-services and data security.
