Egypt Partakes in ITUPP 2018


The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat headed, today, to Dubai, UAE, leading a high-level delegation, to participate, for two days, in the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Plenipotentiary Conference (ITUPP), held on 29 October  till 16 November. The Conference will be attended by ICT Ministers, senior officials and representatives from Member States.

The Plenipotentiary Conference is the official meeting of the highest body of the ITU. Held every four years, ITUPP is the key event at which ITU Member States decide on the future role of the organization, thereby determining the organization’s ability to influence and affect the development of ICTs worldwide. ITUPP sets the Union’s general policies; adopts four-year strategic and financial plans; and elects the senior management team of the organization (the Secretary-General, the Deputy Secretary-General and the directors of ITU sectors’ offices), the Member States of the Council and the members of the Radio Regulations Board (RRB).

During the Conference, Talaat will deliver a speech during the Policy Statements sessions, through which he will review the most important developments in the ICT field in Egypt, plans and programs that are implemented at the national level. On the sidelines of the Conference, the ICT Minister will also hold a number of meetings with ministers and senior officials participating in this major international event, where they will discuss the most important international communication developments.
