The Minister of Communications and Information Technology heads today to the United Arab of Emirates (UAE) in an official mission where he is to meet with officials and industry men of the country to discuss means of enhancing cooperation and investments in Egypt market.
Helmy, presiding a high-level delegation of leaders and experts of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), is to participate in the events of Gitex Dubai 2013, coinciding with his four-day visit from 20 to 24 October.
The ICT Minister has said the visit comes in the framework of MCIT strategy aiming to open new prospects of cooperation and partnership with the Arab countries that supported Egypt, on top of which is the UAE which has always adopted positive stances throughout history. UAE genuineness is revealed in the constructive and fruitful cooperation between the two countries in every field, particularly ICT.
Helmy has underlined that MCIT strategy focuses primarily on attracting more investments to the Egyptian market in ICT field, thus creating more distinguished job opportunities for Egypt’s youth and expanding the activities of the sector to reach the same growth rates ICT sector was able to previously achieved, which led to the creation of an enabling environment of trust and interaction with Egypt labor market needs.
“This achievement will only be accomplished by keeping up with significant events in this industry, closely identify them and not failing in pursuing events to save Egypt’s international prestige reached over the past years,” he added.
The visit schedule includes a number of bilateral meetings with concerned ministers to discuss means of cooperation, exchange of expertise and benefiting from all Gitex participating countries’ experiences in ICT field.
Moreover, Helmy is to convene with the Chairman of The UAE Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) where they are to examine a number of significant issues of top priority; namely, e-government, cyber security, cloud computing and smart learning.
The ICT Minister will also visit a number of ICT projects to closely identify and make the most of them.
Helmy, during the trip’s schedule, will hold bilateral meetings with top international ICT heads; such as Ericsson, Wipro, Oracle, HP and UAE Etisalat as it coincides with Gitex 2013 tradeshow hosted in Dubai’s World Trade Center under the theme “Lets Create, Disrupt and Re-imagine Together”.
The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) sponsors Egypt’s participation in Gitex 2013, where Egypt’s pavilion comprises 17 companies and 45 visiting ICT corporations.
ITIDA participation is the eighth in a row in this significant international event at ICT sector in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia, attracting around 80% of the largest global ICT companies.
For his part, ITIDA CEO Yasser El-Kady has emphasized that taking part in this event comes in line with ITIDA strategy for creating opportunities for partnership, raising Egypt exports of ICT products and services, as well as increasing investments and penetrating the Gulf markets.
Egypt’s participation in Gitex Dubai 2013 guarantees intensive presence for Egypt in ICT international events and maximizes benefiting of every participating country.
This year, for the first time, Gitex Dubai 2013 will witness the holding of meetings for the ICT community streams organized by the GSM Association (GSMA) at Middle East level where various substantial issues will be tackled, among which are mobile broadband vision in Arab countries; world vision of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU); innovation, economic and social development; and infrastructure networks in the Arab countries.
ICT officials and decision makers representing 150 countries are taking part in Gitex Dubai 2013, reflecting its significance in building international strategic partnerships among worldwide bodies, organizations and companies.
Countries like Belarus, Brazil, Finland, Kenya, Serbia, Lithuania, Slovenia, Tunisia and Ukraine participate for the very first time in Gitex this year.
Gitex 2013 sees over 3500 exhibiting companies and more than 130 thousand visitors: a participation of more than 80% of the largest ICT companies recording a higher rate of international exhibiting companies (26%) and a growing number of participants in general ( an additional 12% than in past years).
Furthermore, Gitex Dubai 2013 is the most significant platform and the gateway to large trademarks in the Middle East; it is the fastest emerging markets in the field of ICT and the most willing to invest in the world.
