ICT Minister, Russian Counterpart Chair Egyptian, Russian Companies Forum to Explore Investment Opportunities in ICT Sector

The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat and the Russian Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media Konstantin Noskov have chaired a forum to enhance cooperation and explore partnership opportunities between Russian and Egyptian ICT companies, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) in Smart Village (SV).
Over 15 Russian companies and around 30 Egyptian companies participated in the forum activities including intense bilateral meetings to match interests and explore ways to promote trade exchange including creating alliances between the companies in digital transformation projects, smart city management solutions, and e-government.
Talaat highlighted the significance of the forum that brings together Egyptian and Russian companies to exchange expertise and discuss avenues of joint cooperation. He expected reaching tangible results from the bilateral meetings, and said that he agreed with his Russian counterpart on following up on these results and identify the anticipated partnerships.
Talaat added that all the required facilities, logistic support, and human resources shall be offered by the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) to encourage Russian companies to invest and expand their business in Egypt, and achieve alliance and integration of business with Egyptian companies operating in the same field.
On his part, Noskov stated that they are ready to contribute to implementing the proposed projects and support the anticipated partnerships between the Egyptian and Russian companies to fulfill them. He said that a number of Russian ICT companies look forward to joining the Egyptian market.
During the meeting, the two ministers listened to the opinions of the representatives of the Egyptian and Russian companies, the results of their discussions, and the anticipated partnerships. A number of companies showed desire to invest in Egypt, either through having branch offices in Egypt, or by implementing projects in cooperation with Egyptian companies.
The forum was attended by the Russian Ambassador to Cairo Sergei Kravchenko, Chairman of the Egyptian National Post Organization (ENPO) Essam Al-Saghir, Deputy ICT Minister for Human and Institutional Capacity Development and Acting CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) Hala El Gohary, Director of International Relations Division at MCIT Mohamed El Gawsaky, and a number of MCIT officials.
The forum comes in the framework of Noskov’s visit to Egypt, heading a high-level delegation including government officials, representatives of private Russian companies, and a number of developmental bodies and educational institutions. The visit aims at discussing avenues of cooperation between the two countries, business integration, and promoting new investments in the Egyptian ICT sector.
The Russian delegation included a number of companies operating in ICT fields, such as cybersecurity, communications network security solutions, smart city management solutions, communications infrastructure, fiber optic cables, digital ID, and control and monitoring systems.
Following the forum, the Russian minister and the accompanying delegation took a tour in SV, including visiting SV headquarters and the Postal Museum.
