ICT Minister, Sweden Ambassador Discuss Cooperation

The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Atef Helmy has received in his office in Smart Village the Ambassador of Sweden to Egypt Charlotte Sparre where they discussed means of enhancing mutual cooperation between Egypt and Sweden in ICT fields, in line with the solid relations between the two countries.

Discussions also tackled a number of ICT sector issues to realize common interests between the two parties. Means of possible cooperation in internet banking services, ICT strategy and issues of cybersecurity have been deliberated.

Moreover, both parties talked about the prospect of Egypt hosting the ICT Forum at the second half of 2014, to be organized in cooperation with the Embassy of Sweden and the Swedish Trade and Investment Council.

The Forum is to focus on mutual interests and means of possible cooperation between the two sides in ICT fields. Representatives of ICT companies, some concerned experts and partners of both countries are expected to attend to showcase their experience in the field.

Furthermore, the Forum is expected to discuss—among others-- broadband internet, mobile and landlines, infrastructure, future development plans and entrepreneurship, coverage in remote areas, digital economy and e-government.

The Forum has been organized in eight different countries in Africa and the Middle East and yielded positive results to the development of the ICT sector in these countries.
