Egypt Partakes in TAS2019, under Theme ‘Boosting Africa’s Digital Economy’


The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat headed today to Kigali, Rwanda, to participate in Transform Africa Summit (TAS) 2019, on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, on May 14-17, under the theme “Boosting Africa’s Digital Economy”.

The Summit will be attended by more than 4,000 participants, including Heads of State and Government, UN Broadband Commissioners, ministers, public and private sector officials, representatives of international organizations, industry leaders, investors, entrepreneurs, young innovators, civil society, and academia.

The Summit will feature subject specific streams tackling current ICT topics. This is in addition to Smart Africa Leaders Summit, Smart Africa Women’s Summit and interactive plenaries.

The ICT Minister is due to hold a number of bilateral meetings with senior officials and ministries participating in the Summit, to discuss enhancing cooperation and exchanging views in a number of topics of common interest.

The first Transform Africa Summit was held in Kigali, Rwanda, in October 2013, under the patronage and in the presence of the Rwandan President. During the Summit, Smart Africa initiative was launched, with the aim to use ICT tools to promote economic and social development, and face sustainable development challenges in Africa.
