Dubai Deputy Ruler Launches Gitex 2014, Visits Egypt Pavilion


The Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum launched today edition 34 of Gitex Dubai Conference and Exhibition held in Dubai World Trade Center on 12-16 October.

Al Maktoum visited the Egyptian pavilion where he was received by Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology Atef Helmy who is presiding a high-level ICT delegation.

Egypt delegation comprises 25 Egyptian companies, sponsored by the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA). The companies provide various technical solutions to its prospect clients in the area.

Helmy said Egyptian participation in international forums aims at opening new markets, thus promoting the ICT industry and increasing its exports. This is in addition to providing job opportunities for youth and establishing partnerships and cooperation via the exchange of expertise with international companies taking part in the conference.

Egypt ICT minister reviewed a number of existing investment opportunities in the new projects suggested in the 2020 ICT sector strategy, most important of which are technology parks in Maadi and seven others to be established in other provinces in Egypt,  broadband internet and the Egyptian experience in developing IT through training and qualifying human calibers in the Information Technology Institute (ITI).

During their meeting, the Egyptian and Emirati parties exchanged opinions to set a an appropriate and effective mechanism for work cycle during the coming period.

Moreover, Helmy met with a number of ICT international companies’ leaders among which was HP where joint expertise and prospects of new investments for the company in Egypt were discussed.

The ICT minister also discussed with GSMA Director General Anne Bouverot the plan to develop the ICT sector which comprises telecom unified license. Both parties agreed on holding periodical meetings to discuss latest in the ICT sector.

Around 3700 international ICT companies take part in Gitex Dubai, the most prominent event in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia.

Egyptian participating companies provide a number of technical solutions to serve its prospect clients such as cloud computing, enterprise resource planning, human resources, internet solutions and hosting websites, software development, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), mobile apps development services, website solutions, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), content management, e-health, smart solutions for areas, financial solutions and other technical solutions.
