ICT Minister Visits Saudi Arabia, Meets Saudi Counterpart and Visits KAUST, KAEC


The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat, during his visit to Saudi Arabia, has met with his Saudi counterpart Abdullah bin Amer Alswaha to discuss enhancing cooperation and establishing new partnerships in ICTs.

During the meeting, the major joint cooperation projects between Egypt and Saudi Arabia in relevant fields were presented, in light of last April’s discussions held between the two ministers, during Alswaha’s visit to Egypt, including a number of topics, such as digital transformation, Artificial Intelligence (AI), capacity building, innovation and entrepreneurship.

Furthermore, the two sides discussed cooperation to hold a competition for Egyptian and Saudi entrepreneurs, to find technological solutions for the challenges in different sectors, including tourism and agriculture, thus coming up with new ideas for startups to face such challenges. They also discussed the possibility of implementing a program that aims at opening new markets for Egyptian and Saudi startups, to be able to do business in both countries.

After the meeting, the two ministers took a tour to explore closely the Saudi ICT sector activities. They visited King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), and met with its officials, to explore its latest developments and research. They visited KAUST Supercomputing Lab (KSL) and Visualization Core Lab. They also visited King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC).

Vice ICT Minister for Digital Transformation, Automation and Administrative Development Khaled El Attar attended the meetings and participated in the tour.
