ICT Minister Presents Awards for ‘Internet Safety Applications’ Competition


The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Atef Helmy has delivered awards for the competition “Internet Safety Applications”, organized by the National Committee for Child Online Safety, affiliated to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), in collaboration with Oracle and Etisal Association.

Five winners were announced: Elham Sedik and Amir Magdi of Sohag won first and second places respectively. Third place went for Walaa Mohamed of Port Said, while fourth place went to Mohamed Antar of Aswan. Habiba Khaled of Sohag won fifth place.

The competition was launched among three contests during the “Safer Internet Day” that took place last February 2014.

A number of 40 e-applications on child internet safety came forward to join the competition, all of which were trained on programs used to develop their technology products. The training was provided by Oracle through MCIT Telecenters nationwide.

The National Committee for Child Online Safety published the first “Child Online Safety Guide” providing guidelines for different segments of people  to help with children protection online.

The National Committee for Child Online Safety was launched with the aim of coordinating efforts, strengthening online safety for children and their families, as well as enhancing protection against internet hazards through identifying and developing tools and procedures to achieve a safe and secure virtual world.
