The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Atef Helmy met today with Saudi Governor of Communication and Information Technology Commission Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz Al-Darrab, in the presence of the National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority CEO Hesham Alayli, where they discussed means to promote cooperation between the two countries in the ICT field, as well as conferring a number of related issues to promote mutual work between the Saudi body and NTRA.
Helmy has also met with the CEO of Cisco Systems John Chambers and discussed the company’s investment in ICT projects that will be presented during Egypt Economic Development Conference (EECD), scheduled this month in Sharm el-Sheikh.
During the meeting, Helmy has discussed the ICT strategy during the coming few years that aims to utilize Egypt’ geographic position and avail its human and technology capabilities through Egypt’ digital corridor, thereby turning into a global center for internet services.
Furthermore, the ICT minister has met with Hawaii CEO Yang Tao where they deliberated necessary measures to maximize benefits of international experience, particularly in the fields of technical training, technology innovation and entrepreneurship concepts.
Helmy has said Egypt has promising prospects for investment in mega projects in various fields, especially in the ICT sector. Both parties discussed means to promote partnership to implement national project by means of Public-Private Partnership (PPP).
The meetings took place during Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona on 2-5 March.
