In the context of combating fraud in the selling of mobile phones’ lines and its impact in spreading mobile crimes, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology Khaled Negm has met with Egypt’s Prosecutor General Hisham Barakat to discuss legal procedures undertaken by prosecutions nationwide against fraud by means of using fake IDs data, thereby threatening national security.
Negm has said that he has instructed the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) to take decisive and urgent measures to combat the phenomenon, and tighten control on mobile phones’ market by means of activating follow up mechanisms on the selling of mobile phones’ lines. This is in addition to carrying on with exerted efforts in ensuring accuracy of mobile phone users’ data as those lines are used in terrorist and criminal acts.
