ICT Minister Discusses Cooperation with Ecole Polytechnique in Capacity Building and Joint Research Activities in AI


As part of his official visit to France, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat visited, yesterday, Ecole Polytechnique in Paris, where he met with Benoit Deveaud, Deputy VP for Academic Affairs and Research, and a number of l’X professors and officials. 

Ecole Polytechnique is a leading French institute which combines top-level research, academics, and innovation at the cutting-edge of science and technology. Its curriculum promotes a culture of excellence with a strong emphasis on science, anchored in humanist traditions.

The school produces socially responsible professionals who excel in leading complex and innovative projects which address current and future challenges facing our society.

While touring the campus, Talaat expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome and praised what he got acquainted with at the Institute that reflects the excellence and distinction of Ecole Polytechnique and assures its world leading reputation.

During the visit, the Minister discussed means of strengthening collaboration in the area of building capacities of Egyptian youth that serves the execution of the state’s strategy for AI.

Egypt seeks to establish global partnerships to stimulate Research and Development (R&D) activities and accelerate the adoption and applications of AI technology which will enable the country to succeed in its digital transformation journey and achieve economic and social development.

The meeting also reviewed the national initiatives and programs implemented by the Ministry to develop digital competencies and empower the youth with skills of the future.

During the meeting, the two parties discussed the possibility of collaboration between Ecole Polytechnic and the new university that Egypt is establishing as a dedicated university for telecommunications and IT sciences in the Knowledge City in the New Administrative Capital.

The meeting included discussions on the training programs offered by Ecole Polytechnique, and discussed mechanisms of joint cooperation in the areas of capacity-building in AI, and data science.

The two parties also discussed cooperation opportunities in conducting mutual research activities concerning Egypt’s AI strategy’s priority areas and applications, most notably that address health care, agriculture, and traffic.

The CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) Hala El Gohary, the Associate Minister for Networks and ICT Infrastructure Hossam El-Gamal, the ICT Minister’s Advisor for Artificial Intelligence (AI) Golestan Radwan, along with a number of MCIT officials accompanied the Minister in his official visit to l’X.
