ICT, Higher Education and Scientific Research Ministers Discuss Activating IT to Develop Education System

The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Yasser ElKady has convened with the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ashraf Al-Shehhi, at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) premises in Smart Village, where they discussed means of cooperation between the two ministries.

The joint cooperation is part of the two sides keenness to raise educational system and content level using IT. The two parties discussed a number of projects which they will cooperate together to implement, including automating various activities of examination system, measuring performance indicators, creating academic staff profile, supporting smart learning systems and digitizing university curriculum.

The project of automating exam activities and measuring performance indicators depends on building a secured online system for automating examination process and measuring student performance indicators. This requires providing a standard bank of questions and a possibility for conducting all analytical processes of exam results which saves up to 70% of time and effort spent in this process and ensures fair measurement of students’ skills .

As for the academic staff profile, an online network is scheduled to be created for the academic staff, and a unified achievement profile will be set up for the members, which will help in supporting decision-makers at the Ministry of Higher Education and developing criteria for selecting the leaders of the State and the Egyptian government universities.

They also discussed the project of developing the Institute for Research and Strategic Studies of Nile Basin Countries, Fayoum University. The project aims to consolidate Egyptian relations with Nile Basin countries through providing e-learning services for their sons.

The project aims also to provide, host and run a program for managing e-learning process and digitizing curricula through converting them to online electronic form.

This would reinforce the bonds of ties between Egypt and the African brothers and increase the number of learners at the Institute to improve graduate skills.
